Puppet Pop Up for Families - Your Voice at Sparrow ArtSpace - FREE

  • Sparrow ArtSpace 36 4 Street Northeast Calgary, AB, T2E 3R7 Canada (map)

For our 2024 -25 season we’re popping up around the city at seven different locations on the first Saturday afternoon, from 1:00 – 3:00 pm of each month (with the exception of December, February and June). Planning on attending all seven Puppet Pop Ups?

Puppet Pop Up for Families - Your Voice!

As part of WP Puppet Theatre’s VIEW from the Inside Residency at Sparrow Arts Space we’re having fun with wellbeing and puppets! Make your own self portrait stuffie. Choose from a variety of fabrics and ephemera for details. Fill him/her/they with your hopes, dreams and the ‘times of your life’. Learn a few sewing stitches or practice a few moves on our provided sewing machine. Give your puppet a voice! YOUR voice to tell your stories!

About our residency:
WP Puppet Theatre is excited to serve as Artist in Residence at Sparrow Artspace through March 2025, featuring their award-winning VIEW from the INSIDE program. The residency includes an exhibit of portrait puppets by past participants, video screenings of artist reflections, and pre-registered workshops for all ages to create self-portrait puppet-masks described as “nuanced artifacts with an amazing legacy.” Since 2016, VIEW has engaged over 500 diverse participants, fostering resiliency, community, self-reflection, and emotional expression while promoting mental health and wellness. This initiative is presented in partnership with the Festival of Animated Objects (March 10–23, 2025).

This workshop is part of the Arts & Culture Sparrow Workshop Series gratefully funded by the City of Calgary.
