Puppet Pop Up - Dragon -Ogre Puppets
Inspired by the thoughtful book “When the Anger Ogre Visits" by Ivette Salom, we’ll make some ogre-ish dragon shadow puppets. We’ll explore the wonder of shadow and light, silhouette, opacity, a rainbow of transparent colours and the artistry of shadow puppets. In our sharing time, our dragons will portray being angry, because it’s ok to get angry about things, but they’ll practice how be aware of the affect anger has on ourselves and other people.
Facilitator: Wendy Passmore- Godfrey (she/her) is artist, creator and founder and director of WP Puppet Theatre. Shadow puppets are one of her favourite puppet forms. Seeing children discover the science and art of the ancient art form, with roots in China, India, Indonesia, Middle East is wonderful as is the success that every puppet maker can have.
Presenting Partner: We’re thrilled to have the The Perlin Foundation for Wellbeing as our presenting partner for this event. They support mental health literacy and healthy brain development through fun games and engaging kid-friendly activities. For our Puppet Pop Up they're bringing evidence-backed resources and arts-based play to the Deaf & Hear Alberta space for all to enjoy while you attend the workshop. NOTE: we’ve added an extra hour to the program to allow time to enjoy everything.
