Rod Puppets for grades 3-4
Students will perform a puppet show of The Rainmaker, with an original script by Amber Huck, with the provided puppets. They will also be able to create their own rod puppets and use the story starters and script writing guidelines to create their own puppet shows.
Primary Learning Objectives:
- Learn the basic principles of rod puppet manipulation.
- Create believable characters through visual design, voice, language, movement.
- Follow step by step instructions to create a rod puppet.
- Explore Alberta’s culture and history through story.
- Understand that sharing and cooperation are needed to present a performance.
Secondary Learning Objectives:
- Learn about rod puppetry traditions from different cultures.
- Create new scripts or stories based on Alberta history and culture
